IronPlanet Names McGregor as Managing Director for Canada

August 22, 2012, 07:06 AM

IronPlanet announced the addition of Sue McGregor as managing director for Canada. Sue will be responsible for expanding sales and operations in Canada, a key revenue growth market for IronPlanet.

“Sue brings over 20 years of proven experience building businesses within the industrial services market in Canada,” said Jeff Jeter, president of the Americas for IronPlanet. “Her ability to develop high performance teams, penetrate markets and grow revenue is exactly the type of leadership we need to meet our growth objectives for Canada.”

McGregor comes to IronPlanet from Aggreko, where she served as vice president and area general manager for western Canada. She was responsible for planning and managing the company’s strategic direction including sales, marketing and operations across British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. In her previous roles, Sue has consistently delivered results through increasing customer base, expanding into new markets and service lines while leveraging her in depth knowledge of the Canadian industrial market. Prior to Aggreko, she held the positions of regional sales and marketing director for RSC Equipment Rental; director, sales and marketing at ALS Laboratory Group and general manager, Alberta for PSC.

“I'm very excited to join IronPlanet and provide customers with an online solution for equipment acquisition and disposition in Canada," said McGregor. “Customers today are demanding easier, more efficient ways to manage their fleet needs. Our weekly online auctions provide both buyers and sellers access to the equipment marketplace from their site, office or mobile device. In addition, our online platform is ideal for the large, geographically dispersed client base in Canada to take advantage of auctions without incurring significant cost.”

McGregor earned her technical diploma in chemistry from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), in Burnaby, British Columbia and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.

She has participated in speaking engagements at the Supply Chain for Energy Conference and written articles for Alberta Oil, Oil & Gas Network and the Canadian Mining Journal. McGregor is co-chair of the Construction Owner’s Association of Alberta’s Promotion’s Subcommittee.

IronPlanet is a leading online marketplace for used heavy equipment. IronPlanet is backed by Accel Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Caterpillar, Komatsu and Volvo.
