Wholesale Account Manager

The Wholesale Account Manager will be responsible for analyzing prospective and existing Commercial Truck Dealers and Construction Equipment Dealers to determine and recommend an acceptable level of credit exposure. This position will utilize business plans, direct interaction with key dealer and OEM personnel and financial analysis skills in establishing and maintaining floor plans, lease lines, commercial mortgages, working capital facilities and fixed asset financing.

The Wholesale Account Manager will be responsible for the daily management of the wholesale accounts within their respective portfolio including annual reviews, trend analysis, security perfection, documentation, inventory management and reporting in compliance with established VFS business practices and directives. The Wholesale Account Manager will communicate on a regular basis with key Dealer management personnel and maintain open communication with the sales team, OEM representatives and upper management regarding activity within their assigned portfolio.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring and underwriting Dealer credit facilities which includes preparing and completing write-ups, based on VFS Wholesale credit underwriting requirements and standards, for new credit requests and renewals within established turnaround time objectives
  • Establish strong working relationships with key Dealer management personnel to fully understand the business strategy, dealer market including key customers and industries, operating results and overall financial condition
  • Exercise credit decisions within delegated credit authority
  • Have a full working knowledge of VFS Wholesale Credit policies and directives
  • Interact extensively with the customer, manufacturers and internal departments to negotiate credit terms and communicate decisions in a timely manner
  • Present recommendations to and prepare reports for executive management as necessary
  • Provide daily management of an assigned portfolio including inventory management, over line approvals, audit analysis, documentation review, security perfection review, reporting and customer service
  • Monitor scheduled manufacturer equipment orders to ensure credit line availability and to proactively communicate potential issues
  • Assist in coordinating collection and liquidation efforts in the event of a workout situation
  • Assist in the development and implementation of processes to mitigate risk and improve underwriting

Education and Experience Required:
  • BA/BS in Business or related field required
  • 5 + years of experience in wholesale, commercial loan or lease underwriting (Truck or heavy equipment credit underwriting and finance experience is preferred)
  • Formal commercial underwriting training is a plus
  • Experience in financial analysis including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow and projection analysis
  • Proven record of achievement in structuring financial transactions
  • Collections experience is a plus
  • Strong credit underwriting and analytical skills, including a familiarity with collateral analysis, credit bureaus, D&Bs, and S&P ratings
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple tasks in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Ability to negotiate with internal and external customers
  • Thorough understanding of wholesale documentation requirements and UCC policies
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound business judgment
  • Excellence in reading, writing and speaking English; additional language a plus
  • Exceptional grammar, business writing, and presentation preparation skills
  • Expert level skills in Excel and Powerpoint; intermediate skills in other Microsoft Office products
