Class 8 net orders in February were up 30% y/y and Classes 5-7 net orders were up 18%. This updated status of the North America commercial vehicle market was included in the State of the Industry report, recently released by ACT Research Co. (ACT). The report covers Classes 5 through 8 vehicles for the North American market.

The change in heavy-duty order velocity that began in October continued into February,” said Kenny Vieth, president and senior analyst at ACT Research Co., LLC. “Despite falling below the previous two months, February’s order intake was the fifth best since Q2’06, leading to a two-year high backlog.” he added. Vieth said that MD demand also continues strong and that February was the best order month in six years. “Classes 5-7 net orders rose to their third highest volume this cycle.”

ACT is the leading publisher of new and used commercial vehicle (CV) industry data, market analysis and forecasting services for the North American market, as well as the U.S. tractor-trailer market and the China CV market. ACT’s CV services are used by all major North American truck and trailer manufacturers and their suppliers, and worldwide banking and investment companies.
