Tabone, Sweeney Assume New Leadership Roles in TIAA’s Commercial Business

April 25, 2019, 07:30 AM

TIAA Bank announced Michael Sweeney has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Strategic Vendor Programs for the Commercial Finance Division, and Justin Tabone has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Originations Group Leader for the division.

“Mike has been instrumental to the mutual success of the commercial finance business and our clients,” said Doug Misner, Senior Vice President, Commercial Division Sales leader at TIAA Bank. “His recent leadership in the GE Healthcare Equipment Finance portfolio transition has well prepared him for this new role as the lead on all key strategic programs.”

As Sweeney moves into his new role, he hands off the leadership of vendor equipment finance to Tabone, who will lead vendor originations for core platforms, including: office products, healthcare, industrial and capital markets.

“I’m excited to see Justin expand his influence in the industry,” Sweeney said. “His experience and accomplishments will serve our clients well.”

Previously, Sweeney served in various roles at TIAA Bank in commercial finance, including originations leader for vendor and core healthcare finance platforms. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Long Island University and MBA from University of Connecticut. Sweeney brings more than 30 years of industry experience, and is well-positioned to execute in this new role.

Tabone began at Tygris Vendor Finance in 2008 as part of the vendor equipment finance group and transitioned to EverBank Commercial Finance when Tygris was acquired. Since 2013, he has successfully led the growth of the healthcare platform and has more than 20 years of experience in the equipment finance industry. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston University.
