Maxim Commerical Capital, LLC ("Maxim") is a growing specialty finance company headquartered in West Los Angeles, CA. Maxim is focused on providing senior and subordinated financing of up to $3.0million to small and lower middle-market businesses in all industries secured by equipment and real estate collateral.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as head of Accounting and Finance Departments; manage and motivate staff of 2 accountants and 1 financial analyst.
- Establish and execute effective KPIs for the Accounting and Finance Department and its employees. As part of senior management team, advise on appropriate KPI for the parent company and subsidiaries.
- Manage full-cycle accounting process for parent and subsidiary entities including the timely preparation and analysis of the financial statements, general ledgers, budgets, and comprehensive projections and other financial reports.
- Establish, execute and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and procedures in accordance with best practices.
- Plan and execute on workflow for monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting closes.
- Responsible for the accuracy of monthly financial reports for all operating entities.
- Review reconciliations and audit all entries and postings to balance sheet and income statement to ensure accuracy.
- Deliver accurate and timely financial information to other internal team members including account servicing, auditing, and senior management.
- Prepare and review creditor compliance reporting packages prior to submission.
- Assist in building strong relationships with Maxim’s banks, funding sources and other counter parties.
- Coordinate with creditor auditors and external audit firm with respect to the accuracy, preparation, and issuance of annual audited financial statements and tax filings.
- Identify, recommend, plan and execute on opportunities for cost improvement, process flow efficiency and interdepartmental communication to improve profitability and scale.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, FASB, tax and other regulatory requirements
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Google Apps, and Salesforce(preferred).
- Accounting/financial management experience with a finance company that owns and services a portfolio of loans or leases.
- Self-motivated, team player, with excellent leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Highly organized and ability to multi-task.
- Exhibit a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in handling and having access to sensitive information.
- Experience with portfolio stress tests and enterprise risk assessment is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum 10+ years previous accounting and finance experience with at least 3+ years in executive leadership capacity.
- CPA designation a plus.
- Experience in software conversion & integration and policy and procedure enhancement a plus.
Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications. Also room to grow within the company and in position, if desired.
