WSJ: GE Capital Designation as ‘Systemically Important’ Likely

The Wall Street Journal reported that Michael Neal, GE Capital Chief Executive, said that he expects the the finance unit to be designated “systemically important” by U.S. financial regulators soon.

According to the Wall Street Journal report, during a presentation at a Sanford C. Bernstein conference, Neal also commented that while he is unsure if the designation will actually occur, he woudl not be surprised by it.
 
U.S. regulators could vote as soon as June 3rd to designate the first set of large non-bank financial firms as systemically important, according to the Wall Street Journal report.
