United Community Bank Promotes Dowdy as New East Atlanta President

United Community Bank announced the promotion of veteran banker Craig Dowdy to President of East Atlanta. In this expanded role, Dowdy will be responsible for leading United’s commercial operations in East Atlanta which includes Forsyth, Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Walton, Oconee, Clarke and Henry counties.
 
“Craig has demonstrated incredible leadership since coming to United and we are thrilled to have him move into this important position in our Atlanta market,” said Doug Higgins, Atlanta Metro President at United Community Bank. “He brings invaluable financial experience, and I am confident he will continue to do great things as the next East Atlanta President.”

Dowdy joined United in 2020 as Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending Division Manager where he led the expansion of the Alpharetta loan production office. Most recently he has served as Market President of the 400 North Region covering Alpharetta and Forsyth counties. Dowdy is a veteran of the financial services industry in the Atlanta area. Prior to joining United, he worked at SunTrust for more than 16 years. Throughout his career, Dowdy has been awarded multiple times as a top performer, has served as a peer leader, and has managed hundreds of clients across dozens of counties throughout the state.

Dowdy received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Georgia Southwestern State University.
