MHH Partners to Discuss Legal Trends & Best Practices at ELFA Forum

May 09, 2023, 07:05 AM

Marc Hamroff, Julia Gavrilov and Robert Cohen of Moritt Hock & Hamroff LLP will address legal developments affecting the equipment finance industry this year and best practices for managing them at the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA) Legal Forum May 7-9. They will cover bankruptcy and workout considerations; recent case law; diversity, equity and inclusion best practices; and the implications of state commercial finance disclosure laws.

Hamroff, Managing Partner of the firm, will focus on “red flags of loan distress” and how to position a loan or lease for the best outcome in any potential future litigation as part of the session on Bankruptcy and Workouts in a Post-Pandemic Economy.

“Some of the critical components to a successful workout come well before a bankruptcy case is filed, enforcement litigation filed or collateral is sought to be recovered,” he noted.

Gavrilov, a partner in the firm and member of the ELFA Legal Committee, will provide insights for the Legal Update Part 1 session. Panelists will discuss recent case law and developments in bankruptcy, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and creditor litigation. She will also serve as a moderator on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Best Practices Through a Legal Lens. Session speakers will examine industry trends, challenges, and best practices for advancing diversity goals while mitigating risk.

Cohen, a partner in the firm, will be presenting at the State Regulatory Update session. The panel will review state commercial financial disclosure laws underway, including the significant changes to New York’s law which becomes effective Aug. 1, and related compliance issues.

This year’s forum will be held in Fort Myers, FL, and also is available online.
