A new survey from Equipment World found that more than three-quarters of contractors who responded plan to purchase construction equipment this year.
Some 83% of respondents said they plan to buy at least one piece of construction equipment in 2026, with 38% expecting to buy one or two pieces. Taking out a loan was the top response for how those contractors plan to pay for the equipment (42%), but cash wasn't far behind at 37% of respondents.
The survey asked contractors to choose from which of 25 listed brands they planned to purchase. The top five were:
- Caterpillar — 60%
- John Deere — 45%
- Bobcat — 41%
- Case CE — 34%
- Kubota — 35%
