The following members of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) were elected to leadership positions as officers and directors during ABI’s Annual Spring Meeting April 23-25 in Washington, D.C.:
Stephen D. Lerner of Squire Patton Boggs (Cincinnati) has become ABI President for a one-year term, succeeding Retired Bankruptcy Judge Bruce A. Harwood (San Francisco), who will now assume the position of Immediate Past President. Christopher A. Ward of Lowenstein Sandler LLP (Wilmington, Del.) will serve as Chairman. William H. Henrich of Getzler Henrich & Associates LLC (New York), formerly ABI Treasurer, was named President-Elect and will become ABI President in April 2027.
Kenneth W. Mann of SC&H Capital (Columbia, Md.) replaces Henrich as ABI Treasurer. Former ABI Vice President-Research Grants Bankruptcy Judge Hannah Blumenstiel (N.D. Cal.; San Francisco) replaces Paul D. Leake of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP (New York) as ABI Vice President-Publications, as he has rotated off the Board. Former ABI Secretary Bankruptcy Judge Paul Hage (E.D. Mich.; Southfield) succeeds Judge Blumenstiel as Vice President-Research Grants. H. David Cox of Cox Law Group, PLLC (Lynchburg, Va.) replaces Judge Hage as ABI Secretary. They will serve two-year terms.
The following Executive Committee members were reappointed for second terms: Jennifer M. McLemore of Williams Mullen (Richmond, Va.) as ABI Vice President-Communication & Information Technology, and Ericka F. Johnson of Bayard, P.A. (Wilmington, Del.) as an At-Large member of the Executive Committee.
Marchand Boyd of Axos Bank (Delaware, Ohio), Matthew T. Faga of Markus Williams LLC (Denver), Allen G. Kadish of Archer & Greiner PC (New York), Bankruptcy Judge Sage M. Sigler (N.D. Ga.; Atlanta) and David A. Wender of Eversheds Sutherland LLP (Atlanta) have also been renominated for additional terms as ABI Directors.
Seven ABI members were elected to their first terms on ABI’s Board of Directors:
- Jeffrey Fraser of ALAW (West Palm Beach, Fla.)
- Leyza Florin of Sequor Law (Miami)
- Prof. Brook Gotberg of Brigham Young University Law School (Provo, Utah)
- Rebecca Hume of Howard Kennedy LLP (London, U.K.)
- Jennifer Jenkins of Mourant (Road Town, Tortola, B.V.I.)
- Jordan Kroop of Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones (New York)
- Melissa Root of Jenner & Block (Chicago)
Of note, four of the seven new members of the Board of Directors this year are former ABI “40 under 40” honorees and two new Directors are based internationally.
