Vice President - New Business Development
Location: Frisco, TX

Wintrust Financial Corporation (Wintrust), a financial services holding company with assets of above $20 billion, seeks a Senior Vice President (SVP) of New Business Development for our Commercial Finance Division. Wintrust Commercial Finance (WCF) provides highly sophisticated finance and lease products to commercial enterprises throughout the United States in a wide range of industries. This individual will have active involvement in the build out of a newly formed commercial finance business located in Frisco, Texas.

Wintrust engages in the business of providing traditional community banking services, commercial banking, wealth management services, commercial insurance premium financing, mortgage origination, short-term accounts receivable financing, and certain administrative services, such as data processing of payrolls, billing and treasury management services. We provide community-oriented, personal and commercial banking services to customers located in the greater Chicago, Illinois and southern Wisconsin metropolitan areas through its 15 wholly owned banking subsidiaries.

This SVP is responsible for the build out of the direct origination platform. This player/coach/manager should have prior experience in the hire, training, mentoring and management of high performing loan and lease origination teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Ability to source and close transactions through direct solicitation of customers.
  • Work closely with COO to lead the build-out of the direct lending platform. Player/Coach with responsibility to help identify, hire, mentor and train markets employees.
  • Manage a multi-state territory, coordinating travel and scheduling of meetings in a cost effective manner.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate controls including CRM activities, pipeline reports, and credit submissions.
  • Lead structure, pricing and documentation negotiations with customers.
  • Conduct independent evaluation of all aspects of potential transactions.
  • Conduct industry, business, and collateral research.
  • Work closely with internal teams including Legal, Operations, Risk and Asset Management on deal execution processes to ensure best in class customer service.
  • Prepare thorough investment presentations with recommendations that exhibit thoughtful and well-reasoned decisions.
  • Work closely with entire WCF team to provide feedback and market intelligence.
  • Be visible and active in relevant trade associations.
  • Perform customer collections and work out activities, as necessary.
  • Adhere to established WCF policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Candidate should possess at least 10 years of prior bank or finance company experience in the equipment finance/leasing industry.
  • Ability to travel extensively.
  • History of building high performing teams and adept at performance management.
  • Verifiable track record of success. Strong and verifiable relationships with direct customers, and referral sources including law firms, equity sponsors, accounting firms and equipment dealers.
  • Track record in closing large ticket transactions from $2MM to $100MM.
  • Confident self-starter with ability to manage multiple transactions and documentation closings under time constraints.
  • Attention to detail with demonstrated ability to accurately analyze financial information and make well-reasoned business decisions. Strong work ethic, hunger to learn is required.
  • Ability to accurately communicate results of credit analysis in a complete and concise manner, both written and verbal.
  • In depth knowledge of loan and lease documentation and lien perfection. Ability to effectively negotiate documentation issues with customers and outside counsel.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills necessary to work with business people at all levels.
  • Skilled at conducting business research and building prospect databases.
  • Proficient using Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, TValue, Capital IQ and SuperTrump.
  • Detailed understanding of SalesForce.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, course of study to include substantial exposure to finance, accounting and economics.
  • Masters of Business Administration preferred.
