Pricing for Used Class 8 Slips Again in March

April 27, 2012, 07:00 AM

Used Class 8 truck pricing slipped for the second consecutive month in March. The update on the used market was reported in the latest release of the State of the Industry: U.S. Classes 3-8 Used Trucks, published by ACT Research.

“Prices are not likely to keep falling, but rather, will grow at a slower rate,” reported Steve Tam, vice president-commercial vehicle sector with ACT. “We are basing this projection on the assumption that as more new trucks are purchased, more trade-ins ultimately become available. Growing inventories of used trucks should take some of the upwards pressure off pricing,” he added.

The report from ACT provides data on the average used price for the top-selling Class 8 model for each of the major truck OEM’s – Freightliner (Daimler); Kenworth and Peterbilt (Paccar); International (Navistar); and Volvo and Mack (Volvo).
