Summit Promotes Hathcoat to SVP of Sales & Marketing

Dan Hathcoat has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Summit Funding Group, Inc. Hathcoat joined Summit in January 2006 to launch the Vendor Finance Division as the Vice President of Sales. He is responsible for strategy development and implementation to drive vendor-based originations primarily in the Technology, Material Handling, Construction & Industrial, Healthcare and Telecommunications equipment verticals.

Hathcoat is also responsible for managing the Enterprise Leasing Group, working directly with Fortune 1000 end user customers to meet their operating lease needs. In 2020, he spearheaded the launch of an in-house marketing team, which has grown market and customer awareness substantially over the last 14 months.

Hathcoat began his commercial banking career at Merchants National Bank in Indianapolis, IN, after earning his management degree from Purdue University. After three years in the Commercial Loan Group, he joined Verizon Credit Corporation (formerly known as GTE Leasing Corporation) which began his career in the equipment leasing business. Hathcoat started as a District Credit Manager and received several promotions over his tenure, including Region Credit Manager, District Sales Manager and finally National Sales Manager responsible for all originations, pricing and sales compensation programs.

In March 1999 Hathcoat joined Bank of America Leasing (formerly Fleet Capital Leasing) as the Vice President Sales responsible for growth and development of the bank’s Office Products and Technology originations platform.

In July 2001 he joined American Express Business Finance (AMEX) in Houston, TX, as the Vice President Sales in the Technology business group responsible for development and growth of IT and Franchise markets, leading a sales and service team comprised of almost 50 employees. Hathcoat was also responsible for starting up the Franchise Finance group and development of the sales compensation plans for the team.

In September 2004, Hathcoat joined LEAF Financial Corporation as a Regional Sales Director to grow its vendor based in the Technology segment in the Southeast and Mid Atlantic United States. He quickly grew the region to be the top producing territory in National Account Sales for LEAF.
