July 28, 2014, 07:03 AM

PNC Capital Markets announced the creation of a Transportation and Utilities public finance capital markets team based in New York City. New hire Nic Malas, managing director, will lead this team, focusing on transportation financing and municipal utilities. In addition, the team will include new hire Eric Golynsky, director, and PNC veteran Vin Kurian, lead banker for public power.

PNC Capital Markets LLC provides municipal debt-based structures and products for government entities, higher education, charter schools, housing and redevelopment, and healthcare clients. Since 1984, PNC Capital Markets has been among the largest public finance groups in the Mid-Atlantic region and one of the most active bond underwriting firms in the nation.

Malas joins PNC with 14 years of experience in the transportation finance industry, most recently with Siebert Brandford Shank & Co. He received his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and his master’s degree from Columbia University.

With nine years experience, Golynsky joins PNC from Siebert Brandford Shank & Co, specializing in transportation financing. He received a bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College.

“Transportation consistently is among the largest sectors of public finance. Building out this capability with industry leaders is essential to offering comprehensive solutions to address the financing needs of our clients,” said Robert Dailey, PNC Bank’s executive vice president and managing director of public finance. “I am confident that the experience and expertise of Nic, Eric and Vin will be a powerful resource for the municipalities that we serve.”
