ELFA Honors Chrappa for Influential ‘What’s Hot/What’s Not’ Report

February 23, 2026, 07:05 AM

The Equipment Leasing & Finance Association (ELFA) has honored Carl C. Chrappa of The Alta Group for his insights and leadership as the driving force behind the “What’s Hot/What’s Not in Equipment Leasing & Finance Survey Report.” Chrappa was recognized during the opening session of the ELFA Equipment Management Conference on Amelia Island, Florida.

“What’s Hot/What’s Not” is a trusted resource that has helped guide asset management strategy in the equipment finance industry since 1987. The report has become a cornerstone of industry planning and a barometer of where the market is headed, ELFA officials noted.

“Leasing and finance companies need to understand the risks associated with different assets,” Chrappa said. “The ‘What’s Hot/What’s Not’  survey report uncovers and details what types of equipment are most desirable and have the best potential for future value, and what types do not.”

Chrappa is senior managing director and asset management practice leader of The Alta Group, which provides global advisory services to the equipment finance industry.  An internationally recognized asset management expert, he has decades of experience in equipment valuations, inspections, appraisals and remarketing. Chrappa is a registered auctioneer, recognized expert witness, and nationally (ASA) as well as internationally (MRICS) tested and accredited senior equipment appraiser.

He is a founding member and chair emeritus of the ELFA Equipment Management Committee; three-term chair of the National Association for Business Economics-Manufacturing Roundtable; and a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s “Livingston Report” Macroeconomic Survey panel. The ELFA presented Chrappa with its Distinguished Service Award in 2010 for his efforts to promote education and knowledge within the association.
