Class 8 Truck Sales Up 58% Year-to-Date

Trailer-Body Builders reported that according to figures compiled by Wards Communications, medium and heavy truck sales were up 33% in November compared to the same period in 2010, but sales were down 7% from last October.

According to the report, U.S. truck dealers sold 43,096 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds during November, up from 32,516 in November 2010, and down from 46,328 in October. As reported, Class 8 trucks were up 77% (17,020, compared to 9,614) compared with November 2010.
 
The report states that through November, truck dealers have sold 445,757 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds.  This reflects a 32% increase form 336,824 in 2010. Additionally, the report states that Class 8 sales have reached 150,419 units, which reflects a 58% increase from the same period in 2010.  Total sales of all classes have been up 13%, from 5,483,505 to 6,222,546.
