Baker Donelson has launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Team, a multidisciplinary group of attorneys who have extensive experience with AI-based technologies and industry-specific experience.

Led by Andrew J. Droke, CIPP/US, a shareholder in the firm's Nashville office, Baker Donelson's dedicated AI Team is composed of attorneys from multiple practices across the firm, including Technology; Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity; Intellectual Property; Labor & Employment; Health Care; and Advocacy. All members of the AI Team regularly work with companies across industry sectors in a range of matters, such as transactional, labor and employment, regulatory, compliance, and litigation.

"As the development and use of AI-based technologies continues to expand, companies of all sizes and in all industries are evaluating how AI can help them increase opportunities and improve efficiencies. It is also very important for organizations to assess the potential legal risks and exposure," said Droke. "Navigating this complex area requires technological proficiency, legal acumen, and an understanding of how our clients intend to use AI technology in their businesses. By creating a cross-functional team that brings together attorneys with considerable AI technology experience and attorneys with specific industry and service area knowledge, we are able to provide our clients with practical, efficient, and effective strategic advice and counsel in a rapidly evolving technological and regulatory landscape."

Baker Donelson's AI Team counsels companies that are developing AI-based technologies, as well as those that are deploying these tools and looking to understand the legal implications and risk mitigation strategies. Members of the team have assisted organizations of all sizes with matters, such as establishing policies and procedures; developing contracting strategies; addressing requirements regarding bias and non-discrimination; and advising regarding intellectual property, privacy, data use, and information security considerations.
