Liberty Commercial Finance announced that Marcelo Sarago has joined the firm as its Chief Investment Officer. In this newly created role, Sarago will be responsible for evaluating, structuring and approving client opportunities, as well as have oversight of the portfolio. He will also serve as a member of the company’s Investment Committee.

Sarago brings a long history of structured finance, capital markets and credit decision-making experience, most recently as a Partner and Managing Director at White Oak Global Advisors, where he led investments for its New York office. He previously held senior roles at Citigroup, ICON Investments and ECN Capital. During the last two decades, he has invested and managed over $1.0 billion in opportunities.

“I’ve known Marcelo for many years.” said Eric Freeman, founder and President of Liberty: “We are extremely fortunate to add someone of his caliber to the Liberty team. This is another great addition to one of the most experienced and knowledgeable teams in the industry.”

Freeman continued, “Most importantly, Marcelo’s presence is a great benefit to our clients. His deep industry knowledge provides the experience needed to find mutually beneficial structuring alternatives and allows Liberty to continue to be the leading independent equipment finance company in the industry.”

Sarago commented: “I am beyond excited to join the Liberty team and work with their many clients. I’ve followed Liberty’s exponential growth and know that we have an exceptional team that works hard to support our clients' needs. I look forward to being a key part in adding value and getting deals done for our diversified client base.”

Established in 2017, Liberty is an independent equipment lease and finance company. Liberty has funded over $600 million of originations since inception.
