Rouse: Equipment OLVs Rise, Auction Values Decline Across Equipment Categories

October OLV index values for used equipment across the fourteen major rental category indices tracked by Rouse increased 0.3% from September values. For the six months ending October 31st, 2012, average index values decreased 1.4%. Six out of fourteen category indices recorded one-month value increases ranging from 0.3% for Telescopic Boom Aerial Work Platforms to 4.0% for Air Compressors.

October auction sales of rental & construction equipment tracked by Rouse averaged 5.4% lower than  Rouse September FLV values. Rouse recorded 2,063 units that sold at 22 separate auction sales conducted across North America. The units represented a combined FLV (as of October 31st) of $45.4 million and generated $42.9 million of gross auction proceeds.

During August, achieved rental rates increased 0.7% on average for the rental companies participating in the Rouse Analytics Rental Metrics Benchmark Service. Rates increased 7.9% relative to August 2011. Rouse Analytics calculates rate change weighted by prior period activity in accordance with the ARA Rental Market Metrics™ standard.
