Rouse Rental Report Indicates OLV and Auction Values on Upswing

According to the January 2012 Rouse Rental Report, December OLV index values for used equipment across the fourteen major rental category indices tracked by Rouse increased 0.1% from November values.
 
For the six months ending December 31, 2011, average index values increased 5.1%. Seven out of fourteen category indices recorded one-month value increases ranging from 0.6% for Articulating Boom Arial Work Platforms to 4.5% for Hi-Reach Forklifts.

The report also states December auction sales of rental & construction equipment tracked by Rouse averaged 7.0% higher than Rouse November FLV values. Rouse recorded 3,132 units sold at 34 separate auction sales conducted across North America. The units represented a combined FLV (as of November 30) of $77 million and generated $82.4 million of gross auction proceeds.

Additionally, the report states that during October, achieved rental rates increased 0.5% on average for the six rental companies participating in the Rouse Analytics Rental Metrics Benchmark Service. This is the 9th consecutive month in which rates have increased. Rouse Analytics calculates rate change weighted by prior period activity in accordance with the ARA Rental Market Metrics® standard.
